You Too?

I am honoured to have an essay in You Too?: 25 Voices Share Their #MeToo Stories.

In my essay “There Is Strength In Our Voices” I talk about the incest, rape and torture I survived, but also about my speaking out, gaining a voice, escaping my abusers, and finding good people.

I’m joined by authors Ellen Hopkins, Jennifer Brown, Beth Revis, McKenzie Lee, Janet Gurtler, Saundra Mitchell, Jessica Capelle, and so many other strong voices telling their #MeToo stories of sexual violence, healing, and hope.  Edited by author Janet Gurtler.

This is an important, timely, powerful, and heartfelt anthology that speaks honestly and openly about sexual harassment, abuse, and rape, and healing.

Candid and empowering, this is an urgent, compassionate call for change.

Releases January 7, 2020 from Inkyard Press.

I hope you’ll consider buying a copy, or requesting it from your local library.

More About You Too?

This is a collection of powerful, honest essays by authors who’ve experienced sexual abuse, rape, or sexual assault. There are a wide range of experiences, which can help make it easier for readers to identify with.

I think by speaking out about our experiences and letting others know that they are not alone, we help make positive change. And I think books like YOU TOO? can make a huge, healing difference.

Sexual abuse, rape, sexual assault can happen to anyone – and it is NEVER the victim’s fault. But it can be hard to believe that when it’s happened to you. Books like this – where you can read about so many different experiences – can help survivors realize they are not alone and it was not their fault.

It was important to me to contribute to this #MeToo anthology because I believe that healing happens when we break silence, support each other, and know we’re not alone. And I believe that speaking out is the only way we’re going to make change happen.

If you’ve been sexually abused, raped, or assaulted, too, know that you are not alone and it was NOT your fault. And together, we can all support each other.
